Online service

There are two kinds of online services/courses available, the Virtual U3A and Online Courses.

The Virtual U3A offers services principally for people who are unable to attend groups or meetings of any U3A. All the activities take place on the internet so access to a computer is essential. There is a charge to join. More information can be obtained here: Virtual U3A

The Online Courses are of two different kinds, tutored and untutored.

The untutored courses are free but you can start any time you like and work at your own pace. The material is often used by a Group Leader who presents the units to a group who then discuss the material. Individuals may, of course, use this method.

The tutored courses cost £5 and usually consist of 8 units, each requiring 3 to 5 hours of study per week. A tutor is available to help and answer questions by email. Participants (individually or in small groups) send in their activities for evaluation to the tutor. A chat room for all Participants on a specific course is usually set up.
